Organizational Background and HistoryMt. Vernon Youth Development Group (dba EFYA)
Founded in 1965, Mt. Vernon Youth Development Group has a proud history of serving the youth and families of Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania. Originally established to provide a safe and supportive environment for children to play and grow, the organization has continually expanded its programs and facilities to meet the needs of the community. In 2015, the organization reaffirmed its commitment to youth development by adopting the name Mt. Vernon Youth Development Group, doing business as EFYA.
Throughout its history, EFYA has offered opportunities for children of all ages to participate in baseball, softball, and tee ball, fostering not only athletic skills but also teamwork, leadership, and community spirit. In 2015, EFYA partnered with the Elizabeth Forward School District to further expand its impact by managing the district’s youth basketball program.
Demonstrating its dedication to community enrichment, EFYA completed a major facility upgrade in the summer of 2023 with the addition of two new basketball courts and three pickleball courts. These amenities, along with existing ball fields and playgrounds, are open to the public and offered free of charge, ensuring that all children and adults in the community have access to safe and high-quality recreational spaces.
Today, Mt. Vernon Youth Development Group (EFYA) continues its longstanding tradition of empowering youth, strengthening families, and enriching the Elizabeth Township community.
